Tanjiro privacy policy
This policy covers Tanjiro, an AI assistant for iPhone published by King Of The Hour, LLC (“we”), bundle identifier com.kingofthehour.iphonellm.tanjiroai, including its share extension.
Summary
- Chat, memory, text recognition (OCR), voice transcription and sound classification run on your iPhone. There is no cloud inference.
- Tanjiro contains no advertising, tracking or analytics, and does not require an account.
- We do not operate servers that receive your conversations, memories, email, photos, voice or other content, and we never sell or share it.
- The app contacts the network only to download its model, to use email accounts you connect, and for optional network features you allow.
Information processed on your device
Your messages, Tanjiro's replies, saved memories, text recognized from photos, scans and files, items you share to Tanjiro, voice transcripts and recognized sounds are processed by the on-device model and Apple's on-device frameworks. Speech recognition is configured to run on the device. Sound recognition only classifies sounds such as a doorbell or alarm while you have it visibly turned on; audio is never stored or sent anywhere.
Conversations, the action log and memories are stored in protected app storage on your iPhone. They are excluded from device backups and are not synced by Tanjiro to iCloud or any other service. Memories are saved only when you ask Tanjiro to remember something or approve a memory change.
When you grant permission and approve an action, Tanjiro uses iOS features such as Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, location, Home, Music, Bluetooth accessories, Shortcuts and Maps. These are processed on the device. Accounts and services you have configured in iOS (for example, calendar sync, Apple Music or a HomeKit hub) operate under Apple's and their providers' own policies, as does any message or email you choose to send from Apple's compose sheets.
Model download
After installation, Tanjiro downloads its language model directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Like any web server, Hugging Face receives standard request information such as your IP address, the time of the request and the file requested; no conversation content is sent. See the Hugging Face privacy policy.
Optional network features
Network tools and the in-app browser are governed by your network setting: Off, Ask (default) or Allowed. A request is made only under that setting, and only to the service selected for the request. With Ask, Tanjiro shows the request before anything is sent. The services include:
- Open-Meteo for weather, which receives the location you request (which may be your current location if you allow it).
- Brave Search for web search, Finnhub for stock quotes and 17TRACK for package tracking, used only with your own API keys, which are stored in the device Keychain. These services receive your query, symbol or tracking number and your key.
- Websites you open or fetch in the restricted in-app browser, which receive standard request information. Requests carry no cookies or stored website credentials.
Each service receives your IP address and the request itself and processes it under its own privacy policy. We do not receive these requests or their results.
Connected email
You may connect up to five email accounts to let Tanjiro search and summarize your mail on the device. Access is read-only:
- Gmail uses Google sign-in (OAuth) with the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonlyscope only. - Microsoft (Outlook.com and Microsoft 365) uses Microsoft sign-in (OAuth) with the delegated
Mail.ReadandUser.Readpermissions, plusoffline_accessto stay signed in. - iCloud Mail and other IMAP accounts use an app-specific password you enter, over TLS-encrypted connections.
OAuth tokens and passwords are stored only in your device's Keychain. Tanjiro connects directly from your iPhone to Google, Microsoft or your mail server. It reads message headers and text only when you ask (there is no background polling) and never sends, deletes, moves or marks email as read. Email content is processed by the on-device model; it is never sent to us, to any AI service or to any other third party, and it is not used for advertising or to train any model. Email excerpts and summaries are kept only in the local conversation and action log on your device until you delete that conversation.
Disconnecting an account in Tanjiro removes its stored credentials from the device. You can also revoke access at any time in your Google Account or Microsoft account settings, or by revoking the app-specific password at account.apple.com.
Tanjiro's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide the user-facing email search and summary features you request inside Tanjiro. It is not transferred to anyone, used for advertising, read by humans, or used to develop or train AI or machine-learning models.

Children
Tanjiro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to us.
Support, retention and security
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to respond, keep it as long as needed for support and legal obligations, and you may ask us to delete it. Please do not send passwords, API keys or email content.
Tanjiro uses iOS data protection, the Keychain and encrypted connections, but no system can guarantee absolute security. This website is hosted separately from the app; the hosting provider may process ordinary request logs to deliver and secure the site.
